The Vegetarian/Vegan Guide to UCR
We're making great strides in attaining options for veggie folk! Note that this page is meant to serve solely as a guide for students to cruelty-free eating in the UCR area, it may be incorrect due to changes at the restaurants!

On-campus
Latitude 55:
used to have mock-chicken nuggets ('vegan nuggets') but not anymore Their french fries are vegan but their veggie burger is not vegan, but it is vegetarian.
La Fiamma Pasta:
Vegan: Pastas with marinara sauces are vegan, and there are many choices of veggies. Avoid the bread, which contains milk, and ask for salad without dairy dressing.
Vegetarian:: The side bread and dressings are vegetarian, and they have several vegetarian sauces.
La Fiamma Pizza:
Vegan: You can custom order a vegan pizza, just ask for no cheese. Don't get there right before closing if ordering a custom pizza! You must order no later than half an hour before they close.
Vegetarian: They have hot-and-ready cheese pizzas.
El Sol Mexican Cuisine:
Vegan: The beans and rice have no animal ingredients, so you can order almost any vegetarian meal without cheese and it will be vegan. They have tortas, tacos, and other standard mexican food items. Chips & sides like rice, beans, salsa, fruit cup.
'Stacked' Sandwich Shop:
Vegan: Bread may contain honey, but is otherwise vegan. Lots of vegetable toppings are available, including grilled veggies or vegan hummus to replace meat. A great combo is lots of hummus, and then cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, mushrooms, and/or onions & lettuce. + Oil/vinegar & salt/pepper. Grab a side of Fritos or Lays if stomach is extra empty!

University Cafe:
On University Ave. by Mumbles. Offers several vegetarian/vegan lunch specials all around $6. You just have to tell them when you are ordering a vegetarian dish if you are vegan and I believe the only difference is they do not include egg. Also the boba drinks are vegan and delicious. I reccomend the vegan Kung Pao Tofu with a Lychee Green Tea. Also there is free wifi and sofas with a nice view of University Ave. Be careful though, theres a 2 hour parking limit.
Pho Saigon:
On University Ave. by Santana's. On the back page of the menu is a vegetarian menu. Sadly the Pho here is not vegetarian.
Quiznos & Subway:
Veggie sub sandwiches. You can pay at Quiznos with your bearbucks account. Both are in University Village
Teriyaki Bowl:
In University Village. Offers several dishes where you can replace meat options with tofu. Watch out of the different sauces because some contain animal products.
Sub Station:
Off Canyon Crest across from the the soccer field. They take Bear Bucks, but costs a lot. They have a lot of veggie subs, and a very deceptive sub called Avacado sub. There is also a sandwich called the Avocado and Cheese, so you may presume that the Avacado sub has no cheese, but it does, so make sure if you are vegan to say no cheese anyways.
Denny's:
Vegetarian! not vegan: In University Village. Their veggie burger. Onion rings and fries are vegan. Open 24-hours so its great for late study nights!
