About our Club:
The Animal Rights Club (also known as ARC) is a student-run organization at the University of California, Riverside. ARC first started in Fall 2008, and has gradually grown thanks to individuals dedicated to expanding humanity’s circle of compassion to include animals.
ARC aims to educate UCR students about animal welfare issues. We work with shelters to enrich and save the lives of local animals. Also, we provide support for members interested in adopting a cruelty-free, eco-friendly, and healthy vegan diet.
Although we are interested in all advocacy, from Factory Farms to Wild Life, we have chosen to focus on two primary campaigns. Firstly, to spread awareness about dog and cat overpopulation. Secondly, to promote the vegan diet and get more vegetarian options on UCR campus. However, our events will reflect whatever the members involved wish to do, and our campaigns could change over time.
Please note that everyone is welcome to participate in this club, despite any differing opinions towards the animal rights movement, or your chosen diet. Many (if not most) of our members are not vegan, although in general veganism is seen as a good goal for any animal advocate.
Here are a few things you could do while visiting the site:- Learn a bit about the "why" behind the club, as well as veg options at UCR, animal rights issues, veganism, and activism itself
- Check out what club events are coming up next
